Mobile Device Management

The increasing use of mobile medical communications is rapidly affecting medical care and has become a broadly accepted modern means of delivering medical information and clinical healthcare.  Government legislation calls for greater e-communications with an expected increasing trend of mobile device use in patient care.  While there are without question many advantages to mobile medical communication there are also coexisting professional liability and patient privacy/security concerns including exposure of Protected Health Information (PHI) with HIPAA violations.  Any physician, medical group, or institution using these systems and devices must be aware of potential liability issues including civil and criminal penalties and should possess the knowledge to manage these risks.

We provide guidance on medical mobile device issues and define potential liability areas with usable guidelines and advice including e-communication, authentication, encryption, social media, and HIPAA compliance.
