Medical Education & Risk Consulting (MER) is a physician owned consulting firm based on over 40 years of medical & surgical practice, medical management, and practice management experience specializing in regulatory compliance, e.g. HIPAA and related regulations, medical practice communications & liability, and medical malpractice risk.  The Senior Consultant & Managing Member is Kenneth E. Rhea, MD, FASHRM who has lectured to professional organizations and medical practices on HIPAA regulations and compliance since the first privacy & security regulations were published by the government in 2000.  He has developed numerous educational training programs for regulatory compliance as well as medical practice communications in the areas of remote medical practice, physician communications, malpractice reduction, and telemedicine.  He is one of four physicians in the US credentialed as a Fellow of the American Society of Healthcare Risk Management (FASHRM).  In a current environment of increasing medical liabilities MER offers direct and personalized consulting services by an experienced physician and collaborative partners to physicians, medical groups, and healthcare organizations.
