Kenneth E. Rhea, MD, FASHRM

Senior Consultant & Managing Member

 

Dr. Rhea is a native of Indiana having spent his professional life in southern states.  His professional background includes engineering at GM Institute of Technology (GMIT) in Flint, Michigan, a Bachelor of Arts (BA) Degree from Westminster College, and his Doctorate in Medicine (MD) from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. After Surgical Internship at Indiana University Medical Center, his medical background includes residencies in neurosurgery, ophthalmology, and associated neuropathology research.

 

He served in the USN as the Senior Medical Officer for USN Nuclear Submarine Forces based in Spain. After returning to private practice he was Director of Medicine and Surgery at Texas Medical Care, and Director of Clinical Ophthalmology for South Texas Eye Physicians. Dr. Rhea has served as Deputy Sheriff and Medical Advisor to the Harris County Sheriff’s Department Houston, Texas and is one of four physicians in the US holding the medical risk management credential of Fellow of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management (FASHRM). 

 

As a private risk and liability consultant to commercial organizations and medical practices Dr. Rhea has over 17 years developed and presented ACCME CME accredited educational risk and regulatory liability prevention education.  He has developed and prsented Internet education and live lectures to thousands of physicians in national and state physician professional organizations as well as Tulane and LSU residency programs.  He has lectured and written extensively in areas of physician communications, medical electronic communications, medical risk management, and federal privacy and security regulations, e.g. HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules and EMR related to the Quality Payment Program and MIPS Advancing Care Information.
